The gentlemen’s Ferrari…. a phrase often heard with regard to the Ferrari 456. No aggressive lines on this car, not a car you would definitely order in rosso corsa. This is a 4-person’s Grand Tourer from Maranello naturally evolved from classic predecessors like the 250 GTE, the 330 GT 2+2, the 365 GTC/4 and the 400. Beauty from all angles, both the interior as well as the exterior. Style and elegance combined in a car.
The Ferrari 456 was launched in 1992. Designed by Pininfarina the car was available in a six-speed manual as well as in a four-speed automatic gearbox. Underneath the bonnet een 5.5 liter V12 engine delivering supercar performance. Acceleration 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, top speed 310 km/h.
An improved version of the car, the 456M (Modificato) appeared in 1998. On first sight it showed quite similar to the 456, but when taking a closer look you would discover a whole list of enhancements. Most prominent is the disappearance of the air-intakes in the bonnet and the displacement of the fog lights in front. New seats and a rearrangement of the dashboard did improve the driving experience. Engine-wise the firing order of the cylinders was adjusted resulting in a smoother running engine.
The car I’m offering is a fine manual 456M, the Modificato version. In total Ferrari produced only 688 cars of the manual Modificato.
The car is finished in the most desirable colour combination: Tour de France blue with a tan leather interior.
Originally delivered in 1998 to a Swedish owner, the car has since then only been in possession of one other owner: both former owners are known to me by name.
A full service history is available. It shows the car has only been serviced by renowned Ferrari-specialists. Most recent service was in August 2016 and included renewal of the timing belts. In the boot you will find a Ferrari toolset, a battery charger and a fitted car cover.
The low mileage adds extra likeability to the car.
In short, a classy modern classic looking for an enthusiast.
