Model history
With the introduction of the 996 Porsche made the biggest step forward since the beginning of the 911-series in mid 1960s, both visually and technically. Porsche realized that in order to keep up with competition in the third millennium they had to change the 911 drastically on specific points. Most important, of course, was the transition of an air-cooled to a water-cooled engine. Apart from the engine the exterior and the interior of the car also experienced an evolution, with considerable input from the Dutch designer Harm Lagaay.
Exterior
The car I’m offering is a fine second generation 996 Targa. It is delivered in a beautiful combination of black finish with a black leather interior and optional 18 inch Carrera 5 spoke rims. Paint and rims are in an excellent condition. The car has xenon headlights. A known issue with many 996 Targas is the automatic targaroof increasingly difficult opening and closing over the years. With this car we have completely revised the mechanism of the targaroof. A specialist and costly repair that has ensured the roof now opening and closing smoothly.
Interior
The black leather interior is really flawless. The seats are fitted with seat heating and Raffleder upholstery. This draped leather creates a particularly luxurious look. No traces of wear on floor coverings, door trim, headlining and dashboard. The air conditioning is serviced with the condensors being replaced.
Engine
Equipped with its original 3.6 engine, it delivers 320 PK. The engine compartment is clean with factory stickers in all the usual places. The trunk is like new. Here you will find the spare tire and tools. The car is equipped with new Pirelli P Zero tires.
Miscellaneous
This European car was delivered new on the 22th of Februari 2002 in Germany and was in ownership of a Brussels businessman for the last eight years. A stamped service book, all manuals and all keys are available. Recently the car was extensively serviced. The excellent condition of the car is confirmed by a recent comprehensive Porsche inspection report.
Only a limited number of 996’s were delivered as a Targa. On top of that most of those were delivered with tiptronic, so it’s clear what is special about this 6-speed manual Targa.
The combination of rear wheel drive, manual gearbox and Targa-roof creates instant driving pleasure and makes this car very versatile; an excellent daily driver, but also a delight on an empty Alpine pass or under the Tuscan sun.
